MediaTek has launched a new chipset Dimensity 800U that will provide 5G connectivity to mid-range smartphones. The Dimensity 800U is the latest addition in MediaTek’s Dimensity series family. The 7nm Dimensity 800U chipset is designed for multi-core performance and 5G+5G Dual Sim Dual Standby (DSDS) technology. The chipset manufacturer claims that this chipset will accelerate the rollout of 5G technology on mid-tier 5G smartphones. The 5G modem in MediaTek’s Dimensity 800U supports sub-6Ghz SA and NSA networks, 5G+5G dual SIM dual standby (DSDS), dual Voice over New Radio (VoNR), and 5G two-carrier aggregation. With MediaTek 5G UltraSave technology, the modem’s operating mode is managed based on network environment and data transmission quality, which the company claims will extend the battery life of mobile devices. Pupil size predicts death and hospital readmission in patients with heart failure, according to research published today in ESC Heart Failure, a journal of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). Around 26 million people worldwide currently live with heart failure. It is a life-threatening condition in which the heart is unable to pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs. Symptoms include shortness of breath, swollen limbs, and fatigue. Up to 45% of patients admitted to hospital with heart failure die within one year of admission and the majority die within five years of admission. Pupil area is another way to assess autonomic function and has been used in patients with Parkinson’s disease and diabetes. This study examined whether pupil area could predict prognosis in patients with heart failure. The study was conducted in 870 patients hospitalized for acute heart failure in 2012 to 2017. Microsoft  is all set to launch its much-anticipated game streaming service called xCloud on September 15 for Android users in 22 countries. South Korea will be the only Asian country for the xCloud service's global launch and India is not part of the list as of now. Project xCloud will be bundled as part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription for $14.99 per month, with more than 100 games available on Android tablets and phones. "Cloud gaming will launch in beta for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members in 22 markets to ensure stability as we scale the feature to millions of gamers," Kareem Choudhry, Corporate Vice President, Project xCloud, Microsoft, said in a statement on Tuesday. Investment by communications service providers (CSPs) in 5G network infrastructure accounted for 10.4 percent of total wireless infrastructure revenue in 2019. This figure will reach 21.3 percent in 2020, said the report. "Early 5G adopters are driving greater competition among communications service providers," Kosei Takiishi, Senior Research Director at Gartner, said in a statement. "In addition, governments and regulators are fostering mobile network development and betting that it will be a catalyst and multiplier for widespread economic growth across many industries." The Internet is buzzing about GPT-3, OpenAI's newest AI language model. GPT-3 is the most powerful language model ever built. This is due more than anything to its size: the model has a whopping 175 billion parameters.
